Poison is on a pre-planned break this year, but frontman Bret Michaels isn't having trouble finding other folks to work with -- including Miley Cyrus and his fellow cast members on the new season of "Celebrity Apprentice."Michaels and Cyrus have traded guest appearances for each other's next albums; she sings on his new single "Nothing to Lose," while Michaels guests on a cover of the hit Poison ballad "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" that's slated for Cyrus' next album. "Miley got ahold of me and wanted to re-cut 'Every Rose...,' " Michaels tells Billboard.com. "When we were in the studio, I said, 'Do you want to hear some of my new tracks?' She said 'I'd love to,' and I played her 'Nothing to Lose' and she fell in love with it and said she'd love to sing on the song. I was like, 'That'd be killer!'" |
Band Of Horses has set a May 18 release date for its third album, "Infinite Arms," but Billboard.com can confirm that the project will not be released by Sub Pop, which put out the first two Band Of Horses albums.Instead, sources say the band is being actively courted by several major labels to release "Infinite Arms," which was produced by the band and Northwest music scene veteran Phil Ek (Built To Spill, Fleet Foxes). It's the follow-up to 2007's "Cease to Begin," which debuted at a career-best No. 35 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 179,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The new album features the debut of touring members Tyler Ramsey and Bill Reynolds. A track list has yet to be released, but Band Of Horses has road-tested a host of new songs over the past year, including "Older," "Keyhole" and "Get Some." The group will play material from "Infinite Arms" on tour this spring, beginning March 15 in Boulder, Colo. Several appearances at South by Southwest in Austin will follow that week. A short European tour is set for early April, as are spring festival appearances at Jazzfest in New Orleans and Sasquatch in George, Wash. |
There's no stopping the Sade party as the group's "Soldier of Love" retains the top slot on the Billboard 200 for a third straight week. The album sold 127,000 (down 34%), according to Nielsen SoundScan. In the runner-up slot, Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" holds down No. 2 position for a third week as well, shifting 118,000 (down 18%).Unlike last week, where the chart was so sleepy you had to scroll all the way down to No. 42 to find the highest debut, this week there are a pair of new entries in the top 15. Johnny Cash's "American VI: Ain't No Grave," bows at No. 3 with 54,000. It's the late legend's final installment in his American Recordings series with producer Rick Rubin. The last one, "American V: A Hundred Highways," debuted at No. 1 with 88,000 in July of 2006. |
